PALAKKAD DIOCESE

ST.PAUL’S CONVENT, JELLIPPARA

Jellippara is situated in Attappady Hills in Palakkad district. St. Paul’s Convent is started over here with the zealous and missionary spirit of St. Paul, thus the convent is named after him. The same was blessed on 1st October 1963 by Rev. Fr. Jose Chungan. Being a hilly and tribal area with no transportation facilities, it was very difficult for the children of the surrounding villages to get the basic education at least the pre-primary level. The Christian families who stayed over this area were also suffering to receive their spiritual needs. Thus, sisters used to make house visits, conduct prayer meetings for the families, teach catechism in the parish, and animate courses for the youth in connection with the parish associations.

Moreover, our sisters have been serving as the Parish Sacristian in the Parish for many years. Sisters go to the areas where the trial people reside and make them aware of the health, income generating resources, and educate them to lead a better life in every manner.

Here, we run a pre-primary school for the children those who come from the under privileged areas. We enlighten the children by providing them the light of wisdom in their hearts. Almost 100 students are receiving the lessons of knowledge along with the compassionate love of Jesus. Including our sisters 4 staff members are putting their selfless efforts in order to bring them up the highly illumined personalities.
